Fighting Deepfakes: How Suprema AI is Reinforcing Security
July 17, 2025

The rapid evolution of generative AI is introducing significant challenges to physical security, with deepfakes emerging as a primary concern. These AI-generated creations can realistically mimic human faces, voices, and even fingerprints, posing a substantial threat to biometric authentication systems that have long been considered highly secure methods of access control.

A recent three-part series articles by asmag.com highlights how security providers are actively developing strategies to counter deepfake and spoofing attacks. Today’s attackers can bypass traditional facial and voice recognition using AI-generated faces, replay videos, or synthetic speech. The articles emphasize a fundamental shift: basic biometric checks are no longer sufficient.

In response to this shifting threat landscape, Suprema is leading the way with advanced AI technologies that reinforce the security and integrity of biometric authentication. By combining AI-powered facial authentication and fingerprint recognition with globally certified anti-spoofing mechanisms and a highly flexible multi-factor authentication (MFA) framework.

In the asmag.com feature series, Suprema CEO Hanchul Kim outlines the company’s proactive strategy and long-term vision to address these emerging threats through continuous innovation in AI technology and adaptive security architecture.

✅ Suprema’s AI-Powered Anti-Spoofing

Suprema has made significant investments in AI-driven anti-spoofing technologies that substantially improve biometric accuracy and reliability, especially against the advanced deepfake attempts. Both facial authentication and fingerprint recognition technologies integrate deep learning techniques to ensure accurate identification, even under challenging or deceptive conditions.

Suprema’s AI-powered facial authentication devices are equipped with both infrared (IR) and RGB cameras. This dual-sensor approach ensures highly accurate authentication, further enhanced by Suprema’s AI algorithms developed by in-house R&D team. Suprema is conducting extensive testing and training using various models, including printed photos, video captures, to continuously improve the accuracy of its AI-powered facial authentication.

- “Suprema facial authentication technology has passed the ISO/IEC 30107-3 PAD test, administered by iBeta, confirming its resilience against facial spoofing attempts,” said Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema

Suprema's AI-powered fingerprint recognition technology also incorporates deep learning and advanced anti-spoofing capabilities to detect fake fingerprints. Deep learning enables accurate template extraction even from low-quality, noisy, or distorted fingerprints. Additionally, the Live Finger Detection (LFD) technology effectively identifies fake fingerprints made from materials like rubber, paper, film, clay, and silicone by analyzing unnatural features and inconsistencies.

Suprema's fingerprint recognition technology has received Grade 1 certification in the ‘Fingerprint Recognition Performance Test’ conducted by the Korea National Biometric Test Center (K-NBTC) which operates under the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), a government organization designated based on stringent ISO/IEC performance standards.

✅ Secure by Design: Suprema’s Multi-Factor Authentication(MFA)

Beyond AI accuracy, Suprema strengthens access control through comprehensive MFA capabilities, enabling organizations to tailor authentication flows by risk level and use case.

“MFA is essential for securing highly restricted areas. The most common method now is a combination of mobile access and biometrics. Suprema supports the industry’s most extensive range of multi-credential options, including facial authentication, fingerprint recognition, mobile access, QR code, barcode, PIN, and RFID. Implementing MFA with Suprema's diverse options provides a higher level of protection for high-security areas,”

Suprema’s platform supports a wide variety of authentication methods, enabling secure and flexible access scenarios by combining biometrics with mobile and physical credentials. This allows users to apply custom MFA schemes based on security level and use cases, making it ideal for enterprise, government, and critical infrastructure environments.

✅ Staying Ahead of AI-Driven Threats

“The exponential advancement in generative AI and deepfake synthesis technologies necessitates proactive security posturing. Organizations must anticipate the convergence of digital and physical attack vectors and implement adaptive security frameworks capable of evolving alongside emerging threat landscapes. The development of reliable deepfake detection technologies will likely become essential to ensure the future security of access control systems,”
— Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema

Suprema recognizes that security today must be adaptive. With industry-leading biometric authentication accuracy powered by advanced AI deep learning, globally certified anti-spoofing capabilities, and one of the most flexible multi-credential options available, Suprema is helping organizations navigate the AI threat landscape with confidence and control.
